Jewellery Care
Tarnishing occurs naturally when metals are exposed to chemicals in the air and is a film that forms on the metals surface, causing the metal to become dull and discoloured.
All orders will come with a silver and/or gold polishing cloth to remove any tarnish that may occur. These cloths are impregnated with anti-tarnishing agents to help prevent the metal from tarnishing. IMPORTANT NOTE: be very careful not to touch the polishing cloths provided with your order to any gemstones on your piece as this can damage the stones.
If you do need to clean any gemstones on Ditsy Pincers jewellery, you can do so with warm (not hot) water and dish soap with a soft toothbrush, rinsing with warm (again not hot) water and drying with a soft, microfibre cloth (without any anti tarnish properties).
Each item is dispatched in an Anti Tarnish Zip-lock bag to keep your jewellery from tarnishing which you can store your item in when not wearing it. These particular bags provide tarnish protection for up to 3 years (copper bag turns darker in colour when it needs to be changed)
at which point should be replaced with another airtight plastic envelope.
Store your jewellery away from extreme temperatures, damp conditions or sunlight.
It's advised to take your jewellery off when:
- Doing any activity which could damage your jewellery. Ditsy Pincer jewellery is delicate by nature so care should be taken when wearing these pieces!
- Going to bed.
- Bathing or swimming.
Wait until after you have applied/your skin has absorbed any lotions or perfumes before putting your jewellery on.
You should not expose your jewellery to chemicals (such as chlorine).
If in doubt as to whether an activity may cause damage to your jewellery, take it off and keep it somewhere safe!
